The Great White Way's current Prisoner 24601 has a release date!?! Broadway.com has confirmed that Alfie Boe will depart Les Miserables on February 28, 2016. His replacement as Jean Valjean in the revival will be announced shortly.
Boe made his Broadway debut as Rodolfo in Baz Luhrmann’s La Boheme, for which he and his co-stars received a special Tony Award in 2003 for their performances. He played the role of Valjean in the 25th Anniversary Concert at London’s O2 Arena in October 2010 and went on to lead the original West End production of the show. His live opera appearances include The Pearl Fishers at the English National Opera and Romeo ET Juliette at the Royal Opera House.
Directed by James Powell and School of Rock's Laurence Connor, the newly reimagined production of Claude-Michel Schönberg and Alain Boublil’s tuner is playing at the Imperial Theatre. The current cast also includes Earl Carpenter as Javert, Montego Glover as Fantine, Brennyn Lark as Eponine, Chris McCarrell as Marius, Alexandra Finke as Cosette, Wallace Smith as Enjolras and Gavin Lee and Rachel Izen as the Thenardiers. Hayden Tee will assume the role of Javert on January 29.
